In 2023 Michael Young presents his first in-house furniture collection, Michael Young Home recently launched at Manks in Hong Kong, and at the landmark trade event, Design Shanghai in June.

This is a new brand that has evolved from the desire to build a personal platform that can embody a lifetime of creative discovery, blending into an experiential universe. Being Asia centric it is also an attempt to answer current supply chain issues by using locally sourced production.

The Sheffield Sofa collection, is a cornerstone of this first collection. Designed to reference classic upholstery techniques and move them forward for a new generation, using softer forms and comfortable geometries, the sofa comes in 1, 2.5 or 3 seater sizes, and is available in a range of fabrics and leathers.

The Michael Young Home collection consists of a number of new pieces, mixed with some older historical designs. A key matter in the creation of the collection was the optimisation of sales within China. This involved due diligence to the best standard for current supply chains. All materials employed consider environmental impact by using a low-carbon material derived from renewable sources. In plastics, for example, straw fibre makes up around 30% of the composition.

The launch at Design Shanghai included upholstery, side tables, shelving and lighting. The full collection will soon be available world wide.
