The Astro Bar was one of the defining projects of our years in Iceland, and it remains one of the most talked-about interiors we have ever produced. Reykjavik at that time had an extraordinary creative energy, and the brief gave us the freedom to create something genuinely theatrical. The result was a nightclub interior that drew its atmosphere from the idea of outer space, a deliberate contrast to the raw Icelandic landscape outside. The Astro Bar became a landmark of Reykjavik nightlife and is still widely referenced as one of the standout interior projects of that period in Icelandic design culture. It was during our time in Iceland, working on projects like this, that we developed the restless, material-led approach that would come to define everything the studio has done since.
