The Dog House for Magis came about in the most natural way imaginable. The brief happened over lunch, and it was followed by a trip to the Betty Judge kennels in Oxfordshire, where we went to meet Eugenio Perazza's show dogs Pastel and Stefano to better understand what the perfect dog house might actually require. We drove through the countryside, spoke with the dogs at some length, left with a few dimensions, and by the time we reached Heathrow the design was done. The result is a rotationally moulded polyethylene structure in white or orange, with a stainless steel underframe and a small step ladder at the entrance that can be filled with sand or water as a ballast weight. A brass plate on the front carries the Latin inscription Amicus Fidelis Protectio Fortis, faithful friend, strong protector, or can be personalised with the dog's own name. The Dog House was designed in 2001 and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
