We designed a set of glassware for Chivas 18 in 2009, created to accompany the whisky brand's wider creative programme in Hong Kong. The brief was to produce a glass that felt worthy of the occasion of drinking an eighteen year old Scotch, something that would slow the experience down rather than rush it. The defining feature is the substantial, oversized base, which gives the glass a grounded, almost architectural presence in the hand and lends the whole piece a sense of considered luxury. It was designed specifically for slow sipping, the weight of the base anchoring the drinker to the moment. The Chivas 18 glassware was launched as part of the Chivas Studio event at Watermark Restaurant in Hong Kong.
