The Links was a large-scale modular sculpture installed in Piazza della Scala in Milan during Design Week 2011, created to accompany the launch of our 100 Collection for Trussardi. An assemblage of gilt aluminium links that can be reconfigured in innumerable ways, the structure spread from the square into Palazzo Trussardi alla Scala itself, climbing the interior poles and extending around the statue of Leonardo da Vinci outside. The sculpture was conceived as a symbol of the relationship between man and technology, and its modular logic meant it could be endlessly reassembled into new forms, scaled up or down, indoors or out. The Links sat in deliberate dialogue with the 100 Collection inside: where the furniture drew on Trussardi's heritage of Italian leatherwork, the sculpture spoke to the contemporary manufacturing language of the studio and to the connections between East and West that have defined our practice in Hong Kong.
