The Chivas bar was a centrepiece installation created for a three day event at the Watermark Restaurant in Hong Kong, where Chivas invited a number of international artists and designers to collaborate with the whisky brand and present their work alongside it. Our starting point was the heritage of the Chivas whisky-making process itself, and we wanted the bar to feel like a physical expression of that tradition rather than a piece of branding furniture. The surface of the bar is embossed with circles held by transparent sticks, creating the effect of a mirrored disco ball, and the whole structure is surrounded by an explosion of forms designed to pulsate and glow like fireworks. The result was an object that sat somewhere between installation art and functional bar, theatrical in its presence but rooted in the craft and ceremony of whisky drinking.
