Trussardi Shanghai

The Trussardi Shanghai flagship was the first Trussardi store on mainland China and the fifth in the world, housed across two floors in a prestigious building on the Bund. Tomaso Trussardi commissioned us to design the exterior, which was conceived as something entirely distinct from the brand's European stores. The facade gave the Trussardi greyhound logo a three-dimensional treatment created specifically for this location, a gesture that felt right for a brand making its first statement on one of the world's most storied commercial waterfronts. The project came alongside our broader relationship with Trussardi, which included the 100 Collection shown at Milan Design Week in 2011 to mark the brand's centenary: a family of chairs, benches, stools and tables in wood and plastic covered with pleated leather, drawing on the craftsmanship of Trussardi's heritage in gloves and handbags. A modular installation of gilt aluminium links was shown simultaneously in the square outside the Trussardi storefront in Milan, wrapping around a statue of Leonardo da Vinci.
