Youhutseymatic Table

The Youhutseymatic Table was created for Friends + Design, an exhibition curated by Maria Cristina Didero and Tulga Beyerle at the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Dresden, running from 9 July to 1 November 2016. The premise of the show was simple and quietly radical: seven designers who were genuine friends but had never worked together were invited to collaborate. We were grouped with Richard Hutten and Jerszy Seymour, three people with highly individual and divergent approaches to design, and the three of us were asked to make one thing together. The process was based on the Surrealist game of Cadavre Exquis, where each contributor works on their section without seeing what the others have done, and the result reflects all three personalities simultaneously. The name Youhutseymatic is a compression of our three surnames. The table is held in the permanent collection of the Kunstgewerbemuseum Dresden.
