Sheung Wan Herald Volume 4

2018

Volume 4 of the Sheung Wan Herald arrives following a busy period of constant re-evaluation and global technical launches. A significant highlight is our work on the Clipsal Iconic range, which introduces a new design language to the classic Australian light switch. By engineering a system of customisable skins and rockers that can be changed without the need for an electrician, we have created a future-proof accessory range that integrates Bluetooth and USB technology. This project was honoured with a 2017 Good Design Award and sits alongside the extension of our collaboration with Zens, which includes a tableware collection crafted from bamboo and bone china.

Our studio's focus on material innovation was further recognised at the 2017 iF Awards, where we secured two Gold awards for the carbon fibre LessThanFive chair and the Master Series Watch. We have also explored more conceptual forms, such as our birdhouse for the Eurasian Tree Sparrow exhibited in Milan and the Roxy chair for Gufram, which is a plush design inspired by the nightclub culture of the 1970s. These creative milestones are reflected in our own workspace in Sheung Wan, which we recently updated with a permanent, handmade studio tool cupboard to improve our daily efficiency.
