The Dub collection was a natural evolution of the Joseph lighting series, taking the same aluminium extrusion process as its starting point but pushing it in an entirely new direction. Rather than drawing the metal out into fins, this time we sculpted the extrusion into softer, more generous forms, removing much of the material to reveal a refined armature that is then encased in a hand blown glass vessel produced in the Czech Republic. The result brings together two very different worlds, industrial aluminium engineering from Shenzhen and traditional artisanal glassblowing from Central Europe, in a single object. The contrast between the precision of the metal and the warmth of the glass gives the Dub pendant a quality that neither material could achieve alone. The collection was presented alongside the Otto Stool at Maison and Objet 2015 in Paris.
